The Collect

A video diary of the Holy Land

The Collect, which is said at the beginning of each Eucharistic rite, is a time of collective prayer.  The celebrant opens by saying, “Let us pray.”  Then there is silence as members of the congregation collect all their thoughts and prayers for the day, week, and year and, in essence, give them to the celebrant, who prays the Collect of the Day on behalf of all.

The Youth Pilgrimage to the Holy Land also has a Collect—a video diary for each day. Two travellers (changed daily) will be given the opportunity to present to the world the collection of events for the day. Talking about their feelings, opinions, and the history they have learned, these young people will unpack what the Holy Land means to a youth—to a pilgrim.
